The Lemosho 7-day trek is an acclaimed route for conquering Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. Renowned for its breathtaking scenery and gradual ascent, this route offers climbers ample time to acclimatize to the high altitude, enhancing their chances of a successful summit.

The adventure begins at the Lemosho Gate, located on Kilimanjaro’s western flank. From here, the trek weaves through diverse vegetation zones, including lush rainforest, rugged heath, and stark alpine desert. This variation in landscapes not only showcases Kilimanjaro’s natural beauty but also provides opportunities to encounter an array of wildlife, such as monkeys, birds, and antelope.

The Lemosho 7-day trek is a challenging expedition, featuring steep ascents and descents, as well as some rocky scrambling. However, with the support of experienced guides and porters, climbers can navigate these challenges and reach the summit safely.

Throughout the trek, climbers will stay in tented camps equipped with essential facilities, including toilets and dining areas. After an early morning breakfast, you will leave the moorland zone and venture into the rugged, semi-desert landscape of Mount Kilimanjaro. After approximately five hours of trekking east, you will arrive at the Lava Tower (4,630 meters), a striking geological formation. Here, you will enjoy a packed lunch, with the option to climb the Lava Tower if weather conditions permit.

At this altitude, it is common for hikers to experience symptoms of altitude sickness, such as headaches and shortness of breath. After lunch, you will begin your descent from Lava Tower to Barranco Campsite (3,950 meters). This descent of approximately 680 meters is a strategic move to help your body acclimatize to the high-altitude conditions.

Upon arrival at Barranco Camp, you will be provided with drinking and washing water, and a hearty dinner will be served as you enjoy the stunning sunset views.

In the afternoon, you will continue your trek up the scree slopes towards the Southern Ice Field, providing an excellent opportunity for additional acclimatization. This trek not only helps with altitude adjustment but also allows you to experience the stunning glacier views.

As you ascend, you will traverse an alpine desert environment, characterized by its harsh, cold winds cascading from Kibo Peak and its glaciers. This rugged terrain demands resilience and preparation for the colder temperatures.

Upon arrival at Barafu Camp, you will enjoy an early dinner at 17:00 to fuel up for the demanding summit push ahead. After dinner, take the time to rest and prepare for the night. At midnight, you will embark on your summit ascent, aiming to reach the pinnacle of Mount Kilimanjaro.
