Rongai Route is one of the 7 Kilimanjaro routes that lead to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. It is the only route that approaches Kilimanjaro from the North, near the Kenyan border. The route is known for its scenic beauty and is considered one of the easier routes, making it ideal for first-time climbers.
The Rongai Route is a 7-day trek that covers a distance of approximately 65 kilometers. The route starts at the Nale Moru Gate and takes climbers through a variety of landscapes, including rainforest, heath, and moorland. The route also offers stunning views of Kilimanjaro’s glaciers and the surrounding landscape.
One of the unique features of the Rongai Route is that it has a gradual ascent profile, which allows climbers to acclimatize to the altitude more easily. The route also has a high success rate of reaching the summit, making it a popular choice among climbers.
The Rongai Route is less crowded than some of the other routes, and climbers have a higher chance of spotting wildlife, such as elephants, buffalos, and monkeys, along the way.
