Kikuletwa Hot Springs is a hidden gem located in the heart of Tanzania, known for its crystal clear water and stunning natural surroundings. Located just a few hours outside of Arusha, Kikuletwa Hot Springs is the perfect destination for a day trip or weekend getaway. This natural oasis is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, offering a unique and unforgettable experience.
The hot springs are formed from an underground river that flows from Mount Kilimanjaro, and the water is rich in minerals such as calcium and magnesium. The temperature of the water remains constant at around 27 degrees Celsius throughout the year, making it the perfect temperature for swimming and relaxing. The surrounding area is also home to a variety of wildlife, including monkeys, baboons, and a wide range of bird species.
Visitors to Kikuletwa Hot Springs can enjoy a range of activities, including swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing. The water is so clear that visitors can see all the way to the bottom of the springs, making it an ideal spot for underwater photography. The area is also home to several picnic spots, where visitors can relax and enjoy a meal while taking in the stunning natural surroundings. Overall, Kikuletwa Hot Springs is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Tanzania, offering a unique and unforgettable experience in the heart of nature.
The best time to visit Kikuletwa Hot Springs is during the dry season, which runs from June to October. During this time, the water is crystal clear, and the weather is perfect for swimming and sunbathing. However, it is important to note that this is also the peak tourist season, so the hot springs can get crowded. If you prefer a quieter experience, consider visiting during the low season, which runs from November to May.
Visitors should bring their own towels, sunscreen, and insect repellent. It’s also recommended to bring a change of clothes as there are no changing rooms available. Visitors should also be respectful of the environment and avoid littering or damaging the natural surroundings.
On other day trips we offer apart from Kikuletwa Hot Springs
We will pick you up from Moshi town or Arusha at the hotel where you will stay at 9:00 am drive to the Kikuletwa Hot Springs. The road is very bumpy and windy, so hang on! During the drive, don’t forget to enjoy the wonderful scenery and authentic Tanzanian life as it unfolds along the road.
When we arrive, you’re free to be you. Linger at the edge of the springs, taking in the blue, blue waters and the lush green of the surrounding forest. Take a leisurely swim (don’t forget that the waters are very warm, so you won’t feel like an Olympic sprint) or float in a world that’s all your own, listening to the water lapping and the birds overhead. If you’re feeling adventurous, why not play on the rope swing? Playing isn’t just for kids!
The pond can be very deep, in some places up to 10 meters, but the water is so clear that you can see right to the bottom. Eat your lunch in the shade of the trees or, if you’re a sun bunny, find a hot spot all your own. You’ve plenty of time to spot the wildlife that also enjoys the Kikuletwa Hot Springs.
