After breakfast, the trek progresses from Shira Camp towards one of the key landmarks on the route: Lava Tower, located at an elevation of 4,600 meters (15,088 feet). This portion of the climb involves a series of ascents and descents, leading to a campsite situated above 4,600 meters (15,088 feet). The challenging terrain and high altitude may cause discomfort as part of the acclimatization process. It is crucial to spend at least 1–2 hours at Lava Tower to ensure effective acclimatization. Our group will gather for lunch at the Lava Tower summit, taking in the surrounding views.
Following lunch, the descent will take you to Barranco Camp. Here, you will encounter the impressive Barranco Wall, known for its steep and towering presence. Although the wall presents a significant climb, the hiking trail remains manageable, with the more challenging ascent scheduled for the following day. Rest assured, the trail to Barranco Camp is straightforward and manageable, offering a well-deserved rest amidst the stunning landscapes of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Today’s trek to the Barafu Ridge Campsite presents challenges primarily due to the high altitude. Although the distance is relatively short, the steep incline necessitates a slow and steady pace to minimize fatigue. As you ascend, you will cross an alpine desert characterized by strong, cold winds descending from Kibo Peak and its glaciers.
You will arrive at Barafu Ridge Campsite in the afternoon and have an early dinner at 17:00 hours. Following dinner, you will rest and prepare for the summit push, which begins at midnight. This strategic rest period is crucial for conserving energy before the demanding final ascent to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
